Get to Know the Chief Brand Curator of Brown Jordan
Brown Jordan is a luxury outdoor furniture and it is really lucky to have hired Steve Elton. Elton has served as the chief brand curator of such company and really served the business with all his life. For thirty weekends per year, he would actually dedicate his time in travel to one of the company’s luxurious showrooms to be able to meet with clients, staff and customers and share his knowledge on design and in order to sell the merchandise.
It was in the year 1990 that Brown Jordan hired Elton as a sales representative but it wasn’t the job he wanted to have. He wanted to be into the creative side of things. During his 20s, he attended a design school and took a class on branding. He was really inspired by the Brown Jordan ads that he saw. The ads were what motivated him to dream about working for the company.
He enjoyed sports while he was growing up in New Jersey. He was actually a good athlete and he loved basketball, but he always had a great interest for design. He was drawn into fabrics and he always loved to rearrange the furniture around their home. He was not so artistic but when it comes to fixing up the classroom, his teachers would often ask for his opinion despite his young age.
Elton then got a job being a salesperson in such exclusive furniture store and supported his family. Then he became very interested with Brown Jordan and wooed the company for eight years. He kept sending out letters to the company’s head that he be given a job and then the president showed up and he was offered a position in Brown Jordan.
After many years, Elton built such strong reputation for being able to know the company inside and out and he was then in charge of overseeing the media. One turning point of his career was when he worked under Frinier. For 20 years, Frinier served as the chief creative officer of the company and worked with Elton especially on fabric selection. Then Elton stepped up and became in charge of the different fabric selections and he traveled overseas in order to study fabrics as well as fashions.
Then when Frinier left the said company, Elton became the chief branding officer and he really loves to tell over and over again how the company’s iconic piece was given a major award. For being with the company for 28 years, Elton really loves his job. Due to the many contributions he has given, Elton was given the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Casual Furnishings Association.
